“Happy Saint Patrick’s Day”!
My Irish heritage celebrates the great missionary, Saint Patrick, who took the Gospel to all of Ireland in the 5th Century. He has nothing to do with green beer and leprechauns, but everything to do with faithfully serving Jesus in very difficult circumstances. Patrick is a healthy model for all of us in these unusual and challenging days.
In this letter, I want to fill you in on what’s happening with our Northside Church family over these uncertain days ahead. There are several important things for all of us to hear.
First of all, I’m thinking that this is going to be a very good season for the Church. Jesus has not been caught off guard by this Covid-19 virus. He’s always way ahead of the curve! God will do what he does best, and work all things together for good, for those who love him and follow him. This is an ideal opportunity for the Church to be the Church. Please stay very close to God and listen for his voice. If drops a person’s name into your mind, it would be good if you prayed for that person, called them to say hi, or even helped them in their personal needs.
If you are part of our Church family and are unable to get out of the house because of sickness, or for another reason, and need help with something, please email (info@northsidechurch) or call (604-942-7711), and we will, if possible, find someone to help you. If you are available to help with delivery of groceries or attend to special needs, please let us know.
As of now, Sunday services at the church, as well as all of our Bible Studies and Small Groups will be cancelled.
We will be providing online Church services at 9:30am and 11:15am each Sunday, via livestream!
You’ll be able to connect with that and watch online in 3 different ways:
Please remember that our church expenses still need to be met. You can give through PushPay (click here), or by dropping your tithes and gifts off at the church within office hours.
Our office hours, until further notice, will be 9am to 2pm Tuesday through Friday. Call 604-942-7711, or email anytime.
We want to keep communication, that would normally occur on Sundays, still open. If you have “Prayer Requests” please email them to the church at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have a “Praise Report” of an answered prayer or something the Lord has done for you, please let us know. We’d love it if you could send a 30 second video testimony for us to post online to encourage the rest of our family! (click HERE to send in a video clip)
I also have a “50 Day Plan” to keep us together with devotions. Every day, from Wednesday March 18, until Wednesday May 6, I’d like us each to read three Psalms. There are 150 Psalms, so we can be reading together these meaningful songs that were all composed in either, challenging circumstances, or in times of Celebration. On each of the 50 days, I will go LIVE on our Facebook page (click here for that) to share a short devotion from one of the psalms, and then give a prayer point from the psalm, that relates to our current situation. That will help keep all of us together in our devotional lives.
I think that’s about it for now, but please keep your eye on northsidechurch.ca/churchonline for regular updates. This will be our new center for all resources for the church in this time. Bookmark this page in your browser!
I pray that God will bless each of us this week and will cause these circumstances to stretch our roots deeper into our relationship with him.
As Jacob blessed his son Joseph, I bless you.
“May you be a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring;
May your branches run over the wall.
Though the archers bitterly attack you, may your bow remain unmoved;
May your arms be made agile, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob,
the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel, by the God of your father who will help you,
By the Almighty who will bless you with blessings of heaven above”.
Love and blessings,
