A Lifestyle of Worship

Main Point: Worship hosts the presence of God and releases the presence of God into every situation

Worship is a Sanctuary Within
John 4:19-24 NLT
“Sir, the woman said, you must be a prophet. So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?”

“Believe Me, dear woman,” Jesus replied, “the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about Him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming- indeed it’s here now- when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Worship is the Dwelling Place of God
Psalm 22:3 “You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel”

Worship is Melody of the Soul
Psalm 108:1 “My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being!”
• He gave you ability to make the money you use and so when you worship Him with your wealth, you are recognizing that He is the source, not your employer, your clients or your investors.
• Your employer, clients and investors are simply the conduit through which God blesses you- He is the source

Worship is Victory over Enemies
Deuteronomy 12:2-11
“When you drive out the nations that live there, you must destroy all the places where they worship their gods- high on the mountains, up on the hills, and under every green tree. Break down their altars and smash their sacred pillars. Burn their Asherah poles and cut down their carved idols. Completely erase the names of their gods!”
“Do not worship the Lord your God in the way these pagan peoples worship their gods. Rather, you must seek the Lord your God at the place of worship He Himself will choose from among all the tribes- the place where His name is honoured”
“You pattern of worship will change. Today all of you are doing as you please, because you have not yet arrived at the place of rest, the land the Lord your God is giving you as your special possession.”
“You must celebrate there in the presence of the Lord your God with your sons and daughters and all your servants”

Worship is WARFARE
2 Chronicles 20 King Jehoshaphat fighting against Moabites, Ammonites and Meunites
20:20 “Believe in the Lord you God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.”
20:21-30 “The king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising Him for His holy splendor. This is what they sang, “Give thanks to the Lord; His faithful love endures forever”
“at the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves. The armies of Moab and Ammon turned against their allies from Mount Seir and killed every one of them. After they had destroyed the army of Seir, they began attacking each other. So, when the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as far as they could see. Not a single one of the enemy had escaped”

Sometimes a miracle needs to be initiated by praise and worship
Joshua 6
• Worship ‘goes before the presence’ to prepare the way for the people of God to encounter a miracle
• This morning you might need a miracle, let your worship go before Him
• Worship positions our hearts to march in faith and declare victory over fear

Worship is Testimony
Exodus 15 Song of Deliverance
• Why do we raise our hands in worship? Surrender to Him, Declare that He will make a way whatever RED SEA we are facing, like He did for Moses and the Israelites
• Does this mean we won’t have any fear?? NO – Exodus 14:12
“it’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness”
• This morning, “what is your Egypt?”
• What is the place that you have been enslaved? Is it a pattern of thinking? Is it a sin that you cannot shake? Is it a sickness that you cannot gain victory over? What is the place that you have spent far too long in? you need deliverance this morning from your Egypt
• What is the place that you are afraid of? What is your “Jericho?”
• Worship is a lifestyle, not “that thing you do at church” once a week
