I Have A Dream

Joel Conti January 27, 2019 The Red Thread

Main Point: A dream is a not a “night vision,” it is a driving force that propels you through walls of adversity

“I have a dream…that all men are created equal”
– Martin Luther King

Divine Dreaming
“One night, Joseph had a dream” Genesis 37:5 (NLT)

Dream: “To dream” “To bind firmly” or “To be restored to health” or “To be strong”

When God gives you a dream, it may be “in the night” or it may be “in the day” or it may be “in between” but it is a prophetic word, not just something that happens in your imagination.

“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” Joel 2:28 (NIV)

• The result of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is an outpouring of the Dreams of the Spirit

• Bundles of grain
“We were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine” Genesis 37: 7 (NLT)

• Sun, Moon and Eleven Stars
“Listen, I have had another dream, he said. The sun, moon and eleven stars bowed low before me” Genesis 37: 9 (NLT)

Dreams Need Legs
“I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt”
Genesis 41:41 (NLT)

Manasseh – “God has made me forget all my troubles and everyone in my father’s family” Genesis 41:51 (NLT)
Ephraim – “God has made me fruitful in this land of my grief” Genesis 41:52 (NLT)

So, what’s God’s dream for you this year? What’s God’s dream for your life? Do you have one?? God has spoken dreams over your life.

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7 (NASB)
“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” John 15:8 (NIV)

• The fruit is the ‘answered dream’- God isn’t about giving you a dream only to watch you fail
• The Father’s Glory is the Answered Dream
• The glory always belongs to the source- He gives the dream, He deserves the glory for the answer to the dream

Obstacles to Dreaming: Lies, People and the Enemy
Lies: Potiphar’s Wife lied about Joseph that he tried to rape her when in fact, he was just a man of integrity.
People: his brothers hated him, Potiphar imprisoned him, and the cupbearer forgot about Joseph.

Enemy: after Joseph was “made to rule in Egypt,” we don’t read about any more dreams or interpretations…we do read that he “used a silver cup for fortune telling” though. That’s the enemy’s way of contaminating a gift from God.

Obstacles to Dreaming: you’re too busy
• Life is not about TIME, it’s about PRIORITIES…don’t look for more time, it’s not out there
• I don’t dream because I haven’t been still long enough to rest in His presence and Hear Him speak…

When you aren’t dreaming with God, you write your own script…often this begins with the wrong motives.
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” James 4:3 (NIV)

Conclusion:
Divine Dreaming with God will demand a Determined Response and your whole life depends on it.
