Northside Church is working as part of a network of churches across North America called Petros Network, which aims to follow Jesus’ example in WORD and in WORKS by both proclaiming the Good News, as well as demonstrating it through acts of compassion in relief throughout Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda.
Petros Network’s TESFA Widows’ Development Centre in Gojo, Ethiopia, is aimed at helping eliminate the cycle of poverty among local widows and their children. Situated in the heart of the underdeveloped and impoverished city, the centre will provide social work support and life skill training, and will act as a training centre to widows starting sustainable businesses through the help of micro-grants. It will also house a sewing and craft centre, employing many other widows who are not able or do not wish to pursue their own business.
Our goal in 2015 was to raise the first $110 000 US for this project which would touch thousands of lives and serve as a model of redemptive lift to the rest of Ethiopia and Africa! We are so thankful to God and to corporate sponsors for being able to give $800 000 towards the completion of the Tesfa Centre!
