The Way, The Truth and the Life

Main Point: There is only ONE way to know God and to receive eternal life and that is through Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Jesus says, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going” (John 14:1-4)

 “Thomas said to Him, Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

 Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

 

The Way:

Falsehood: there are many ways to get to Heaven and many ways to get to God

Truth: Jesus is the only way to God

• You see, the WAY to Heaven is PERFECTION…the reason PERFECTION is the WAY to Heaven is because Heaven is PERFECTION and nothing IMPERFECT can come into Heaven
• This perfection in Christian Terms is called “Righteousness”

Romans 3:22: “righteousness is given through faith in Jesus for all who believe”

 

The Truth

Falsehood: Make up your own truth. There are many sources of truth, including an “inner energy,” a “higher power” or gurus

Truth: Jesus is the only source of pure truth

• Jesus is called the WORD of God- the Bible is not only God’s Word; the Bible is the written Word…Jesus is the WORD
• Every time God speaks, Jesus is the one who comes out of the mouth of God- If God’s Words had legs, arms, ears, eyes, mouth etc…it would be Jesus
• Jesus is literally, the source of perfect and pure truth- if you a Christian, you understand the there is another force in this world, a dark source of words- his name is satan and he is the father of lies

Creating your own truth to somehow get to God by some other truth is like trying to defy gravity…you can try to deny it or come up with some other way of defining truth but eventually, you will just come tumbling down to earth- there is only one source of truth and like gravity, Jesus is it

 

The Life

Falsehood: Our life is only temporary, 70-80 years max and after that, blackness. Live for today, because there is nothing in the afterlife

Truth: Life is eternal and it continues after we die. We live for eternity, because there is definitely “something” in the afterlife

• We think that we can attain eternal life without Jesus but this is impossible
• At spiritual conception, when you pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart, he fertilizes your spirit
• When He fertilizes your spirit, a new being is formed…Paul calls this A NEW CREATION

  

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

 He has prepared the way, through truth for us to have eternal life

“The Lord bless you
and keep you;

the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;

the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”’
