Main Point: Through Jesus, we are invited to have a personal encounter with God each day, experiencing the presence of God.

His Presence in these Last Days.

Hebrews 1:1-4

1 “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.”

John 14:6-7

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Colossians 1:15-16

15 “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones of powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”

His Presence requires Righteousness.

Tozer says “man’s moral conscience, crying for pardon and cleansing before the presence of the great God, has now found it by an event, an act of the eternal Son, who is the image of the invisible God…He turned aside to do this awful act…He single-handedly purged our sins. He alone could do it, so He did it alone (Tozer, 21).”

2 Corinthians 5:21

21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Hebrews 12:2b-3

“For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

His Presence brings Justice and Joy.

Hebrews 1:8-9
8 “But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”

Psalm 16:11

11 “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

Conclusion: God’s presence is a by-product of the finished work of Jesus on the cross, but we must seek to find.
